Today I want to talk about my 2020 goals. Before that, let’s talk about last year. 2019 was a HARD year. It was physically; emotionally and mentally challenging. It started off really well, I had a new boyfriend; I chopped all my hair off and I was in my favorite city- New York. That’s kind of where it ended lol. I want to run through a couple of things that happened in 2019, mostly for me but also so you can laugh at me and how much dumb luck I have. I got really sick with the flu just after my birthday In January which is what it is considering it was the middle of winter but that was just the tip of the iceberg.
In 2019 I managed to severely hurt my foot by opening a door and being nice to someone at a bowling alley, 2 days after I was cleared to go back to the gym after having my appendix rupturing. I managed to become VERY allergic to dairy, to the point where if I have anything with a trace of dairy in it, I get sick for about 3 days. I managed to almost break my finger and ended up needing all my shots again. Did you know that you need booster shots when you are older? Yeah, neither did I. I also started fainting and throwing up from getting my period. Lastly, I have been having severe hip issues to the point where I have been referred to see an orthopedist and may need a hip replacement- my 25th birthday is in a couple of days in case you’re wondering.
Other than some other personal things, I managed to get into college and I am currently waiting for my change in status so I can start studying, I spent all year studying at Purchase College, with an amazing teacher who really helped me and empowered me to do my very best in everything. I made some incredible friends; my marketing business went REALLY well and we have expanded. I am also so grateful that I had my business partner, Asha supporting me and helping me through 2019 as well as my friend/mentor/brother/business person, Kaya who called me every week to check in on me and make sure I thrived even when I was not and felt defeated.
This year, I don’t want to plan specific goals or say I need to achieve this, do that, etc, I just want to:
-Try and be genuinely happy.
-I want to be kinder to myself.
-I want to make sure I take breaks and not burn myself out.
-Pick up a new hobby
-Sort my health out
-Have fun
-Keep saving money
-Support people who mean the world to me
-Start writing a book
-Just be me
-Keep learning new things
My list is plain and simple and it’s exactly what I want it to be. I don’t want to set a goal weight or things that I may not realistically be able to do or achieve. This year isn’t about hating myself at the end of the year when I go back and read this, this year is about working on myself and make sure I am taking steps to be better.
Let me know what your plans are for the new year. Do you have something specific or are you like me and want to just try and be happier?
Remember to follow me on Instagram if you don’t already, I would love to hear from you!
